ACTION ALERT: Tell Gov. Murphy $142M for NJ TRANSIT, not Turnpike Expansion
Hello neighbor,
Today, we are asking advocates to call and email Governor Murphy to ask him to veto the August 27th NJ Turnpike board meeting minutes that included a wasteful $142M contract for final design work. More information below.
TAKE ACTION: Call and Email Governor Murphy
TODAY! Please email and call Governor Murphy at 609-292-6000 to ask him to veto the NJ Turnpike Authority August 27 board meeting minutes.
Last week, while many people were away in the days leading up to Labor Day, the NJ Turnpike Authority rubber-stamped a $142M contract to do final design work on the turnpike expansion even though the project is still undergoing an environmental review by federal agencies, which could, and should cancel, delay or substantially modify this ill-conceived project.
Today, we are asking you to call Governor Murphy to ask him to veto the August 27 NJ Turnpike board meeting minutes. Governor Murphy has the power to stop this wasteful $142M spend by vetoing the NJTA minutes that approved the contract. We need to flood his office with calls and emails, and tell him to stick to his promise of fixing NJ TRANSIT, follow a Transit First policy (transit before highways), and VETO the NJ Turnpike Authority’s August 27 board meeting minutes. Call him at 609-292-6000.
Finally, for those on social media, consider posting about this:
Hey @GovMurphy! Reject the NJTA's $142M design contract for the I-78 Turnpike expansion! It is wildly premature as the USCG Environmental Assessment is not complete, the project is destructive to New Jersey & wastes taxpayer money. #TurnpikeTrap @StevenFulop @RasJBaraka
