Call to Action! River Road Safety Improvements Need Your Support
River Road Taking New Shape
In September, Hudson County began construction on a concrete-protected bikeway on River Road, as part of a safety improvement project and scheduled repaving benefiting all road users. The new two-way bike lane will extend 1.4 miles on River Road, between Anthony Defino Way and South of Churchill Road through West New York, Guttenberg, and North Bergen.
This remarkable step for Vision Zero has been met with some confusion by residents who are grappling with road closures and traffic changes. Yet support for this project is essential for smoothing the way for future Complete Streets projects.
Please help us support the River Road Safety Improvement project in three ways:
> Attend this Thursday’s Hudson County Commissioners’ meeting, Oct. 9, 4:30pm-6pm, in person at 567 Pavonia Avenue in Jersey City. (Sign up in advance here, or rise to speak on the Vision Zero agenda item.)
> Email Hudson County Executive Craig Guy at hcexecoffice@hcnj.us with your support for this transformative infrastructure—the first ever protected bike lane on a county road not in a park. Cc us at team@hudcostreets.org!
> Post your photos and support for the bike lane on social media and tag @hudcoinsta @hudsoncountyexecutive and @hudcoststreets to make your voice heard.
Then stay in touch for a group ride on the new lane soon!

If you have any questions, email us at team@hudcostreets.org.
Thank you, and see you Thursday!
