Join us this Tuesday to tell Gov. Sherrill To Stop the Turnpike Expansion

Hi Friend,
We need your help this Tuesday morning to speak out against the highway expansion boondoggle that is still moving forward in Hudson County.
Take action this coming Tuesday, January 27, at 9 am by calling in to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority Board meeting to make public comments opposing the Authority’s disastrous $12 billion plan to expand the Turnpike from Newark to the Holland Tunnel.
WHAT: Call the NJ Turnpike Authority to oppose the $12 billion highway expansion boondoggle
WHEN: Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 9 am
WHERE: By Phone
HOW: Call 800-346-7359 and enter access code 487219
Despite a supposed compromise announced right before the holidays, this project’s construction is still slated to start this year. Under any relevant metric – cost, climate pollutants, environmental justice, land use, traffic congestion, or economic development – this proposed expansion is an economic and environmental disaster.
This will be the first NJ Turnpike Authority Board meeting since Governor Sherrill was inaugurated this week and Kris Kolluri was named as the new Chair of the NJ Turnpike Authority. We need them to know how unpopular the project is and that we should be investing in mass transit, not Eisenhower-era highway expansions.
You will be able to make brief public comments and tell Governor Sherrill and Chair Kolluri to reject the $12 billion folly pushed by the prior Board Chairs and to consider alternatives for the project, including repairing the Newark Bay Bridge or replacing the Bridge without expanding it.
This is a key moment to stand up and show the Turnpike Authority they can’t steamroll public opposition – you should share your personal and policy reasons for opposing the project. Please respond to this message if you want more detailed talking points, which we will send out tomorrow.
