Turnpike Expansion Public Comments Deadline: July 3, 2025
Note: You may be receiving this newsletter if you recently signed a petition from Hudson County Complete Streets.

Hello neighbor,
Thank you to everyone who joined us in Bayonne on June 18th to oppose the New Jersey Turnpike Authority’s disastrous $11 billion plan to expand the Turnpike between Newark and Jersey City.
At the 6/18 public hearing – the first in more than 5 years! – we urged the Turnpike Authority to develop a robust and comprehensive public input process, in line with state law, Gov. Kean’s Executive Order 172, and sound public policy. Instead, the NJTA is rushing public comment over a holiday week, when they’ve already made up their minds – and the deadline is this Thursday, July 3rd!
In addition to only taking public comments over a two-week period after years of pushback, they’ve also made the form more complicated – you can’t just email in your thoughts. They are trying to make the process harder to depress the number of public comments – but don’t let the Turnpike Authority stop you from commenting!
The New Jersey Turnpike Authority is taking public comment on the $11 billion proposal to expand the NJ Turnpike between Newark and Jersey City – at a time when public transit is failing, air quality is getting worse, and Turnpike traffic is down because of congestion pricing.
WHEN: July 3, 2025 is the deadline to submit public comments!
