Summer is winding down, but we’ve been busy

JFK BRT surveys & meetings, Better Light Rail canvassing, NJ TRANSIT board meeting, our State of the Streets party in October; there’s so much to cover, no time to waste!

Hudson County and Executive Guy Giving Attention to JFK Bus Rapid Transit

Our earlier efforts in pushing for JFK BRT are bearing fruit as County Executive Craig Guy is now taking a serious look at how to get it done.

The Vision: Riding from South Bayonne to North Bergen on a single route, in a dedicated traffic lane, with stoplights engineered to prioritize you. If that sounds appealing, you should voice your support for JFK BRT, because that’s what this project could deliver!

There are two ways to help:

• Take the short survey

• Attend the public session hosted by Hudson County

  • September 23rd, 6-9 pm at Hudson County Community College Library, 71 Sip Avenue, 6th floor.

This survey covers much broader topics, but helping plan your community’s future is well worth the 10 minutes it takes.

Repeating Our PATH Success with Light Rail

This Summer, HCCS has been out on Light Rail platforms with local electeds, collecting signatures and telling journalists what our campaign is all about: 10-minute off-peak service, extension West to Bayfront, extension North to Bergen County!

The biggest way you can help this campaign is very easy.

⚠️ OFFICIAL HCCS STATEMENT: Upcoming JFK Blvd Safety Improvements are Welcomed but Not Enough to Achieve Vision Zero

Hudson County Complete Streets supports the new safety features being implemented by the County on JFK Blvd between Pavonia and Sip. We especially applaud the new curb extensions, which will block cars and trucks from parking illegally at corners to make people more visible and the intersections safer for pedestrian crossings. While this project is a good first step, it’s ultimately insufficient to achieve the Vision Zero goals set by Hudson County.
